Spaciable's Hangover Cures

If your moving in house party got a little out of hand and you had a few too many glasses of wine, try and ease your hangover with these tips.

2 minute read

The best way to avoid a hangover all together is to not drink too much.  But if that plan fails, try some of the ideas below. We don’t claim all these have been scientifically proven, but they’ve been tried and tested and are our favourites:

Water

Keeping hydrated is key to reducing a hangover. Drinking plenty of water before you go to sleep means you’re less likely to feel terrible the next day. A glass of water at breakfast will also help – even if it is all you can manage!

Ibuprofen

Take the recommended amount of Ibuprofen with some orange juice and it should keep that nasty headache at bay. If you wake up early, take the tablets and then go back to sleep – you might wake up cured!

Breakfast

Your stomach may feel a bit fragile, but eating is really important. Fatty foods in fry-ups help to replace lost fatty acids and also break down the alcohol in your system. Foods like bananas and potatoes are full of potassium, which will also have positive effects.  If you’re feeling really delicate, then eat toast or something quite light, to make a start.

Don’t be lazy

You might feel like staying in bed all day or hiding from the world, but this won’t help.  Keep busy – go for a short walk, read a book or watch TV to distract yourself from your discomfort.

Shower

A warm shower will do you the world of good. Feeling refreshed will make you feel healthier and rather less regretful.

Hair of the Dog

It’s a myth. By having another alcoholic drink you’re only prolonging the hangover stage. Go back to the top of this list and try one of the other tips instead.
