Benefits of Home Automation

Home automation is essentially a remote control for your home. Using your smart phone, tablet or a touch panel, you can control and monitor systems such as lighting, audio visual and heating, providing a scope of benefits.

Micro-manage your home

Lights no longer have to be just on or off. You can customise various mood lighting settings for different activities. For example, dimmed downlights when watching films, or bright lights above kitchen worktops when cooking. You can control the heating in your home by zone, meaning your lounge is warm for when you get home from work and your bedroom is cosy when it’s time to count sheep.

Bespoke

You don’t need to pay for functions you won’t use. Many suppliers and programmers of home automation systems allow you to select the features that you need.

It’s an investment

Home automation isn’t cheap but it’s also not as expensive as you may think. It can save you money in the long run, as micro-managing your home allows you to reduce and regulate your energy consumption. You can programme your lighting to turn off automatically in rooms not being used and set timers on electronic devices.

Added security

Monitor locks remotely, view security cameras and set alarms, all with a swipe of a screen. Next time you’re at the airport and you think you forgot to lock the patio door, panic need not ensue. Unless your phone confirms that you have indeed forgotten - maybe then you should panic.

Entertainment

The film starts, the lights dim and the surround sound kicks in. When you host film nights, the only problem you will face will be persuading your guests to leave after the end credits.
